Shirley
Decker
(Director) -This
is Shirley's third year directing for Port Summer Theatre. Like many
Thespians, her passion for theatre started very young - acting out stories
in the back yard with a clothes line for a curtain. "My first show was
"The Whipping Boy," and I was the star - getting royally beaten with a
stick every other scene." She performed all through school and beyond in
many productions with lapses when getting married, raising children and
establishing a career. She performed in "Can Can," "How to Succeed in
Business," and "Pajama Game," to name a few. She decided at age 40 to
finish college and major in Theatre, luckily for her, through the
Professional Theatre Training Program in its first year at UWM. She
taught Speech Communication, Forensics & Debate at Milwaukee Lutheran High
School and directed plays, including "The Miracle Worker."
Her recent performances, as an actor, have included "Barefoot in the
Park," and "Plaza Suite," and this spring in 'Girls of the
Garden Club" with the
Cedarburg Players.
She also directed
"Pump Boys & Dinettes," and "Foiled Again" with the Players. Shirley was
instrumental in the organization of the
Cedarburg Players
and served as
the first President for 4 years and is still active with the group. |
