About three years ago, I stumbled across the record album for WORKING, played it, fell in love with it, and knew I had to produce it. Finally, the rights were released, and preparations were made to present it this year, and to the best of my knowledge, ours is the first production of WORKING in the state of Wisconsin. You will find that WORKING is far from the typical musical. There is no direct story line, no 'love interests' (except for some people's love for their occupations), and no reliance on one or two central characters. Instead, you will discover through many vignettes, characters, and musical numbers a celebration (perhaps 'requiem') of the world of work, its importance, its frustrations, and its joys. To successfully present WORKING, one needs an extremely versatile cast, with wide-ranging vocal and acting talents, and tremendous depth. I think we have that this year, and I would particularly like to thanks the cast for sacrificing literally hundreds of their talented hours to share in the realization of an exemplary performance. I am terrifically proud of each of them, have enjoyed working with them so much, and wish them well now, and in the future. |
